WRESTLERS OF THE WEEK 12-16-18
Ava Ward is one "girl" to make a boy not want to wrestle. Her focused attitude and sheer will shined bright this weekend. She took to the mats in Park Hills, working her way through a 16 man bracket. She pulled off wins against some good kids, and lost a close match in the final period for 3rd. She is a lioness in the making. At the Moberly tournament she showed great compassion and sportsmanship towards a 2nd year wrestler. Instead of beating the kid quickly and possibly breaking his self-esteem, she wrestled with him and gave him some good mat time. Way to go Ava!!!
Porter Douglass took first today in Moberly in his first tournament of the year. Porter is a little beast on the mats. Each year this kid's knowledge of wrestling grows. His energy and enthusiasm are some of his best qualities. If you know Porter you know he is a happy kid full of smiles. Once he steps on the mat it is all business. His aggressive style and high intensity keep most kids fighting to stayy off their backs. His passion for wrestling at a young age is something a coach loves to see. Way to go Porter!!
Miles Stevens comes from a wrestling family, and this little guy decided to take to the same sport as his older brother Anthony, who is on the HS team. He is eager to learn, and is a great partner in the practice room. This translated to a gold medal today in Moberly. He will be a Panther to watch in the upcoming years! Keep up the good work Miles!!
